Politicians, even generally good ones like Steve Chabot from Ohio, cannot see past their careers to recognize the danger of a dumbed down electorate. Mr Chabot recoiled from my assertion that so many in the Moderate Middle are Dumbed Down.
"People have a right to not pay attention if they so choose" he said. " Of course we'd like everyone to be engaged and aware, but if they just want to sit on the couch and watch tv, that's their right as American citizens."
I'm sick of hearing about our rights and nothing else. These rights ( which do NOT include health care, housing or employment) are Natural rights endowed by the Creator, but not guaranteed. They come with duty and responsibility. Or we lose them. When, WHEN will the politicians who love America, the Churches that love Americans, and the media that supposedly represents truth...stand up and demand all Americans accept the job of being citizens?
Never. It's is
our duty to shake them if we intend to keep this Republic.
The Dumbed Down Moderate Middle must be brought to their senses, whether they want it or not. I'm afraid we may have some assistance in this battle from unwanted sources. Events in the near future may have an unforeseen impact on the electorate that is already turning away from uncontrolled spending, government intrusion into the free market, and the usurpation of our 2nd Amendment rights. This is beyond ideology. This is about freedom.
Use it, or lose it.
