Underestimated, the attendance at Cincinnati's Tax Day Rally was reported at 4000. There were many many more than that. A great trio of non politician speakers, highlighted by Greg Knox, the parts supplier who told GM to shove it
(A MUST READ) and lit up the internet with his letter which has turned viral, set the stage for a march through downtown streets to city hall. There, petition in hand the crowd chanted, "WE WANT THE MAYOR, WE WANT THE MAYOR...." Of course, Democrat Mark Mallory didn't show his face. But the effect was galvanizing. This was a day people had to take off work to attend. These tea parties are not one time events, they are (I now believe) the awakenings of the Sleeping Giant. Look to the Fourth of July, and if you haven't attended yet, be there. Join. Stand up.
The endless procession winds it's way towards city hall. I stopped a couple cameramen from the local TV station, and warned them about the dangerous radical extremists. They seemed amused.
The Mayor was nowhere to be found. Probably hiding under his desk! As I said to my neighbor, this was a good crowd to be a part of. And a very good start.
