It was amazing how much attention the Governor of an isolated state could garner the combined attention and enmity of the Mainstream Media, American Leftists, The Democratic Party, Atheists, Republican Elitists and Beltway Pundits. It also speaks volumes about Sarah Palin's character. And now, there is a chorus rising up to demonize and isolate Glenn Beck as his show streaks in the ratings on Fox in the 5:00 pm time slot. That's right, 5 in the afternoon. Beck has been on the radio for years, so what's the reason for all the attention now? To be direct, he's sinking the needle right into the direct nerve junctions of anti-Americanism.
Not without the vicious response and counterattack you'd expect.
The Uber Leftist Media Matters has a
laundry list of pieces attacking Beck. Some of the gems include:
Beck: "If your kid is licking the gears" of a dirt bike, "we should let natural selection work
Olbermann awards Hannity "Worst Person" "bronze," names Beck "winner"
Beck
denies responsibility for Pittsburgh shooting, adds that Obama "will
slowly but surely take away your gun or take away your ability to shoot
a gun, carry a gun"
Beck: "I
was wrong. Our government is not marching down the road towards
communism or socialism... they're marching us to a brand of non-violent
fascism... towards 1984"
Not to be outdone, the Right is pitching in.
Charles Johnson's Little Green Footballs site has been pummelling Beck for a while now. And has started revoking commenting privileges of anyone who questions his attack on Beck's Mormonism or stance on Principles and Values.
(Johnson): A question for LGF readers who have been defending Beck’s insane
conspiracy rhetoric: are these the kinds of people you want to be
associated with—Ron Paul, John Birchers, and “end times” fanatics?
I'm beginning to wonder if Fox doesn't have an agenda to promote the
nuts on the Right in order to get FCBBHO re-elected in 2012. Am I
paranoid?
Good work posting criticism of this idiot Glenn Beck. The GOP is doomed
to the wilderness as long as paranoid windbags like Beck, Coulter et al
are considered acceptable spokespeople of conservatism.
Okay, what has the Johh Birch Society done lately? Promoting the Glenn Beck show and Tea Parties...
And yes, I am saying that I don't want John Birchers at my site. Racist
far-right conspiracy trash is not welcome. I thought I was pretty
damned clear about that, but apparently you still want to question it.
Wow, testy, eh? Seems little old Glenn Beck is arousing very strong feelings. Like at Time Magazine:
Or those cool folks at
thinkprogress.org:
It’s really sad that people listen to this crap and believe it. The
Pittsburgh cop killer was apparently inspired - at least, in part - by
Beck’s rantings, and there will come a time, unfortunately, when his
paranoia infects someone who takes violent action, and that will lie at
his doorstep.
Too bad Fox is more concerned about ratings than rationality.
So, what do I think about Glenn Beck? Entertaining, Informational and thought provoking. Taken with a grain of salt and common sense. There now, a response to Glenn Beck that lacks any drooling or eyes rolling about in the sockets. Wish all these folks had had the same attitude about voting for Hope & Change®.
