Surviving An Obama Presidency

"We get punished for the things we can't imagine" a great quote from a movie I recently watched. And true enough. So, imagine Barack Obama is POTUS, and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid run congress. What do we expect? What do we do? Forbes Magazine says:
Taxes will go up. Capital gains and dividends will bypass 20% on their way to 25% or 30%. Income taxes will go to 40% for higher earners and possibly more for the "super-rich." The ceiling on payroll taxes will rise to $150,000 or so.
Your healthcare? The greatest system in the world will be under assault. The Far Left Government we WILL have under the three Marxists WILL try to reshape our nation. And using Healthcare as another incremental step, the population begins to be dependent on Government for it's needs. Obama says heathcare is a right. Neil Boortz points out:
Now what about this "right" to healthcare thing? Healthcare comes in the form of both treatment by health care professionals and the administration of therapies or drugs. For you to exercise your "right" to healthcare some other individual must sacrifice some of their time attending to you, and some other individuals must surrender some of their property (drugs and treatment devices) to be used in your care. So, in saying that you have a "right" to healthcare you are saying that you have a right to a portion of someone else's life as well as a portion of their property.
So how will the Economy hold up through this? Glenn Beck offers us:
...our economy is in for a very “rough landing, at best” and that if our politicians don’t get the bailout exactly right we could see our GDP (a measurement of the total value of all the goods and services produced every year) falling between 15%-20% in one year. By way of comparison, in the Great Depression, our national GDP fell 29% over a four year period (1929-1933) and in that period we saw 7000 banks fail, a 25% unemployment rate and a Dow Jones industrial Average suffer an 80%  decline.  And that was when the pain of a shrinking GDP was spread over 4 years!
Yesterday, the President of France, Sarkozy said he hoped by the end of this worldwide financial crisis, we would have a One World Financial System. What, the U.N. Bank?

I'm no Rhodes Scholar, and I struggle to understand it all as much as many of you. But I do trust my instincts. And something's telling me it may be time to prepare to make moves to protect ourselves and our futures in ways that may seem "outside the box". The people running the System will tell you, don't panic, don't be hasty. There is panic, and there is prudence. The people who acted prudently survived the Great Depression. Surviving a totalitarian government is another thing.

UPDATE: Let's "get a grip" on what Obama in the White House will mean. As a commentator at Herald Sun.com said:
Of course, Obama is too smart to try and smuggle this socialist agenda through the front door. He stealthily disguises the wealth transfer as "investments." Some of his proposed disguised "investments" are universal health care, free college tuition, government matched 401ks for low-income families, wage guarantees for union workers, free child care and universal preschool, massive increases in public housing and the "Global Poverty Act," which gives billions to third world countries. You can see why Obama was ranked the most liberal member of the Senate by the National Journal.
But some here say "get a grip, he won't be the emperor". Well, you don't need to be the emperor. Just the President with a filibuster proof Congress lead by a Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader who share your Socialist views on "Economic justice". In some people's views, you are either Chicken Little, or an Ostrich. Why don't we go for realistic?

After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.

The bill's total cost could reach $150 billion, these officials said.

40% or more of Americans don't pay income tax. Will they be getting a rebate? And don't forget Obama's plan for our military:

I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems...

...I will not weaponize space...

...I will slow development of future combat systems...

...and I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure the quadrennial defense review is not used to justify unnecessary spending...

...I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons...

...and to seek that goal, I will not develop nuclear weapons...

...I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material...

...and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert...

...and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals...

Nothing to be concerned about here. Move along.
