The blogosphere won't sit still. The new media goes where the msm refuses. Face value means nothing, and we as a group demand facts. Sarah Palin's recent choice as VP candidate for the GOP has been met by a flurry of charges, smears and innuendos from the Left and anti McCain Right. Rather than accept statements at face value, I reserve the right to change my opinion in the face of new information as always.
There have been several charges against Governor Palin of late that have been researched and addressed by Garnet92 at "The Pesky Truth" in a post titled,
"Defending Sarah With Pesky Truth No. 1". Garnet has done an excellent job of addressing two of the major charges against Palin:
1 - She presides over a Sanctuary State for Illegal Aliens
sanctuary
resolutions were passed before Palin even took office; she had no
responsibility for them. Second, they were never as absolute as San
Francisco’s and the resolutions contained an exception covering the
case of a law-breaking illegal. And third, two major cities that
originally signed on to the sanctuary concept are now rescinding that
decision and no longer want to be considered a “sanctuary cities.”.
2 - She gave 500 million to a Canadian company to build a gas pipeline.
Palin rescinded a previously negotiated agreement that would have cost the state $10 billion in revenuesrejected by the legislature and the Alaska public and had been . She replaced
it with competitive bidding for the rights to build the pipeline. As
part of the inducement to meet specific timeframes, etc., the five
companies were also competing for $500 million in matching funds that
would be available to the company winning the bid. In the end,
TransCanada won the competition
There may or may not be new information about Sarah Palin, or John McCain, or Barack Obama, or Joe Biden, that surface in the coming two months, that affect my opinion about this election. But as it stands, Sarah Palin is still a great choice for John McCain, and looks to be an up and coming leader for conservatism in the GOP. All credit goes to Garnet for great research, and "Pesky Truth" is a must see stop here at Townhall Reader's Blogs.
UPDATE: Garnet has
a report on further accusations towards Palin:
